In 2020, I co-founded Retro alongside Joe Betts-LaCroix and Prof. Sheng Ding. The company raised $180M from Sam Altman to advance a portfolio of aging research translation bets. These bets centered around rejuvenated cell therapies and autophagy enhancement as of summer 2024, at which time I left to start a more focused endeavor in the cell therapy space.
Back in the day I did my PhD at Stanford, à la the Brunet Lab. I built single-cell and cell-type-specific transcriptomic aging biomarkers and used them to characterize various interventions including partial epigenetic reprogramming and blood exchange. It is quite unfortunate that our blood becomes so inflamed as we age.
